The aesthetic quality of rare light is something that when you see it, you know immediately that it is special… This was certainly the case when I saw the very special lightshow this one evening over the towering peak of mount Whitney looming over 14,000 ft into the sky with spectacular rays of light shooting across the valley below! For a moment I couldn’t believe what was actually happening as I raced to get into the proper position to be able to see right into the throat of the drainage. As I sat at the base of the mountain, I searched for a place to set up in this deep wash, as I positioned my camera distinct beams began to shoot out from the ridgeline and in that moment, I had captured the most incredible moment of light I had ever seen in this wonderous place!
