CELESTIAL EMBRACE
I had made the journey to these dunes because I knew that the moon was setting just as the Milky Way would be at its highest in the Western sky. Expecting to be exploring and capturing compositions all night, I grabbed my pack and a sleeping bag for the occasional short nap to rest my eyes. At around 3:00 AM, I awoke to shadows being cast upon the dunes from fading moonlight and a perfectly poised Milk Way! This turned out to be exactly what I had been hoping for, yet every trip is always hit or miss. The rewards are always the greatest when you simply commit and go!
