DAWN ON ME

The spring air had not yet let its grip loose hold of the crisp winter air, snow crushed beneath our feet as we traversed the flanks of the now extinct volcano. As we pushed up the last 800 vertical feet of this cinder cone giant to give way to our vantage point, our feet slipped on the melting ice pack and the sun began its ascent into the morning dawn. My lungs heaved as I hurried to the South rim with excited anticipation! I swung my 400mm lens onto its gimbal and began to search for my composition. The sun began to gently caress the land, swallowing every shadow with it and just like that, it was over but not without getting the shot just as I had envisioned.
