The rarity of this phenomena is quite a treat to experience in person. After over a decade of attempting to capture this moment, the elements finally gave way to a sight that is so difficult to predict, you almost need to live in the desert to witness it before it has come and gone. Only blooming every seven to ten years, this yellow bee weed requires just the right amount of rain and ground temperature in order for the seeds to germinate! Finally stepping foot here, for the first time, was something of an eye rubbing event. Watching these little flowers flutter in the breeze brought a smile to my face. After watching for several days for good lighting to occur, illuminating the badlands behind these blooms I had finally captured a shot that I had only dreamed about for many years!
