I departed my cozy room well before first light, drove a winding road in the dark along the North Shore of Maui, I was in search of something yet I still did not know what to expect. As I began to hike out across the lava fields, the sun started to show a glow on the horizon and I hurried my footsteps as I saw that the clouds were about to light up and I wanted to catch it before it was gone. I sat beside a long cliff that met the sea's edge and watched as the motion of the wave’s crashed upon the lava rock. I did a slightly slower exposure to capture the moment of the wave action and then the sunrise was in full effect! Unexpected treasures are most certainly some of the most welcomed.
