ROUND BUTTE REFLECTIONS

While chasing late summer monsoons over the plains of Western Montana, I had filled several large memory cards with stunning imagery from Glacier National Park and the surrounding countryside. However, after driving toward camp that evening, the light began to change all around us. Beams of light were shooting through clouds everywhere and we found ourselves speeding down back country dirt roads as fast as we could in order to try to capture the fleeting light. After several unsuccessful attempts, we sat idly by this ranchers stock tank, pondering our next move since it was nearly dark. Just then it began to gently sprinkle and the light started to open up right before us and illuminate the most amazing reflection right in front of us in this pond. It is amazing how we might chase after things all around us, only to find it right where we stand, however, had we not driven all around in search of light, we may never have run into what was just under our noses.
