San Juan Enchantment

After sleeping for only a few hours until 2 AM, we awoke in order to start the dark trek up into the timberline. Our goal was to try to get to the basin beyond the top of a distant ridge at 13,000 feet by first light to catch the soft morning glow atop of the San Juan Mountains. Reaching the top when light was just starting to make way over the horizon, we hurriedly made our way to our desired vantage point. Everywhere I looked seemed to be a composition I wanted to capture! After exploring the terrain, I found this stream with an abundance of these little yellow wildflowers strewn about with giant peaks in the distance. I couldn’t help but capture this perfect moment in time.
