SIERRA DAWN

After searching for the perfect bend in the river, on my prior scouting trips, I set up well before first light waiting for the sun to rise behind me in the Eastern sky. As the sun broke, it cast the most amazing glow off of the clouds behind the 103 mountains. The colors were so soft and gentle; this type of light is amongst my favorite. Subtle, quiet, unassuming, yet expressive, this is the type of light that you can go forever searching for. When you least expect it, it comes and smacks you with a blast of color that you’d never expect! I love it when these moments surprise me and I am able to develop images such as these. Lightshows like this are a part my dreams that I most often wish for and rarely do they occur, yet when it happens, it is magic!
