STANDING TIME

Hiking along the highest peaks slows life to a rhythm that nature often defines in a manner that we as visitors seldom control. While backpacking last year, we set up camp under the stars of a clear night and listened to the story told for eons of the catter of aspen leaves rustling in a cacophony all night. I awoke to the stillness that came early dawn, rested and feeling that I had been a part of their story. Aspens are all interconnected.They all are a part of the same grove, never living alone and roots traveling sometimes hundreds of feet to reach the other members of its grove. I call this image “Standing Time”, tributing the generations of aspens living together in this majestic old growth grove!
