Adversaries

I had spent many days locating and learning these wild mustang herds in Western Nevada. They were mostly very calm and spent much of their day resting, feeding about the sage foothills. In the early dawn each morning however, there were four young bachelors that continuously sparred with one another for both practice and earning their place in the ranks! One morning in particular these two young mustangs wouldn’t leave one another alone, they continued to rear up and shove each other around, ferociously biting at the other. This went on for a couple of hours and I was fortunate enough to get close enough to capture this shot of them frozen almost like statues of the iconic wild West! A moment I could never forget.
