BADWATER BLISS

With recent rains, the basins in Southern California had filled. In the front of my mind, I knew this would be the perfect moment to go capture Bad Water, yet I had told myself that such thing many times over the years and yielded minimal results. When I arrived in the milky dark of the pre-dawn light, I made my way across the salt flats searching for water. About a mile had gone by, when I finally began to hear the water sloshing beneath my boots. As the light began to cut through the dark sky, I saw the flooded playa before me and the salt tiles were almost glowing when the sun cast its light across the mountain tops! The excitement in my heart surely had to show on my face as the clouds behind the prominent peak lit up with these incredible hues of pink! In a blink of an eye, I had witnessed a moment that I have long waited for.
