BADWATER GLOW

With the recent rains, the basins in Southern California had filled. In the front of my mind, I knew that I had to go and capture Bad Water, as I knew that it must be the perfect moment, yet I had told myself that such thing many times over the years. When I arrived in the milky dark of the pre-dawn light, I made my way across the salt flats searching for water. About a mile had gone by when I finally began to hear the water sloshing beneath my boots. As the light began to cut the dark sky, I saw the flooded playa before me, and the salt tiles were almost glowing as the sun began to cast its light across the mountain tops! The excitement in my heart surely had to show on my face as the clouds behind the prominent peaks lit up with these incredible hues of pink! In a blink, I had witnessed a moment that I have long waited for.
