The long drive of nearly nine hours through frozen territory and snow covered roads to get to this spot was absolutely worth every second. I’m always fascinated by seeing a location for the first time, especially when it presents me with an unforgettable night like this. Waiting on the bank of this half frozen lake looking out to Eystrahorn Mountain, I sat patiently in the 5 degree weather for the northern lights to start dancing. For a short amount of time, the atmosphere lit up this incredible landscape with a back glow of neon green and turquoise colors throughout the cold night sky. A moment I will take with me for the rest of my life on just how lucky I was to see this for the first time.
