Hideaway

After several years of missing the perfect bloom here, I had made my mind up that I would stay until I found perfect conditions. This particular place is rather remote and requires extra effort in order to reach. With a pack loaded down with several nights’ worth of provisions and a few good friends, we hit the trail! After eight long miles and four thousand feet of elevation gain, we finally reached a series of flower filled meadows and it was then that I had realized there would be no need to wait, as the flowers were profuse in peak bloom everywhere! This small cabin once served as the hunting cabin to a Cowlitz Indian by the name of Henry, which now serves as a park ranger patrol cabin. That evening when the rangers returned from patrol, they turned on an old lamp inside and the place took on an aura all unto it own with soft emanant glow surrounding the cabin and a pink sky illuminating the scene, set with wild Lupine and Indian Paintbrush! Literally, quite an indescribable moment and one I won’t soon forget!
