Lost Dutchman

The desert holds many secrets, and within those secrets, much time must be spent searching for the right composition. When I found this pinnacle formation, I wanted to capture the essence of the blooming brittle brush around its prominence. After missing a big bloom here by only a few days in 2019, I was sure not to miss it this time around and I made sure to have the perfect location scouted for the shot! Being very careful not to compose the flower fields too close as to obscure the vastness of the bloom, yet at the same time not too high as to lose the details of each petal was essential here in this moment! The yellow carpeted desert floor leading up the sunkissed mountain encompassed the very essence of spring I was striving to achieve and with that I am pleased to share with you “Lost Dutchman”.
