I had anticipated this moment from when I had found this composition a few days earlier. Initially I wasn’t very enthusiastic as the weather was showing that we would have clear skies that morning, however with the flowers at their peak bloom, I simply could not wait longer as their crescendo of beauty was at their absolute best! When I arrived well before sunrise, I couldn’t have ever anticipated that I would be fortunate enough to capture a beautiful halo around the sun as it peaked over the mountain tops! I couldn’t believe my good fortune to have something even better than a dramatic sky! As the light gently kissed the tops of these desert lupines, they glowed like purple lanterns in the morning light, the sun was just behind this saguaro as its brilliant halo loomed outside of the brilliant light! This was way better than I could have ever imagined and I am so thankful that I never truly know what sorts of magic I will encounter while out in the field!
