The desert holds so very many secrets and with those secrets, much time must be spent searching for the right composition. When I found this pinnacle formation, I wanted to capture the essence of the landscape around this prominent peak. The tall saguaro cactus surrounding this mountain was very strong and profound, however, they posed many challenges due to their height and I didn’t wish to take away from the prominence of the peak itself. I must have hiked 10 miles around the desert searching for an area that composed the cactus, the peak and the final light of day in a manner that truly exemplifies the Sonoran desert landscape. I feel that this image portrays this well.
