WAI’OLI DAWN

As we drove down this quiet road on our way to “Vinnies Beach” for sunrise, out of the corner of my eye, I caught an eminent glow. I stopped in the darkness of pre-dawn light and put the car in reverse. When I rolled down the window, all thoughts of the composition I was envisioning at the beach were thrown out as I grabbed my gear and walked across the sleepy little village road to capture this image of this small church in Hanalei Bay. What I came away with was something I cannot place into words. This was a spiritual moment of calm. As I rarely ever capture the effects of man, this stood out as a calling and couldn’t be ignored.
