ARTBROKERAGE.COM – IS IT THE SECONDARY ARTWORK MARKETPLACE

Many people come into my gallery with requests to sell their older artworks. I am often surprised to hear that so many people look to sell artworks similarly wanting to acquire my photography. I think what it comes down to is that there has been a departure away from traditional art mediums in the gallery world the last decade away from oil and canvas types of artworks and delving much more into the modern aesthetic of Fine Art Photography instead.

With sites like artbroker.com or artbrokerage.com housing hundreds of artists such Vladimir Kush, Nano Lopez, Robert Wyland and even other landscape photographers like Peter Lik and Peter Lik Styled artworks. I believe it is safe to say that there are a very large and diverse spectrum of artisans represented across their channel.

Art Brokerage is an online platform designed to sell artwork via the internet and appear to have a lineage dating all the way back to 1983, being represented online since 1995. They accept all artists, where you can create a free listing or set up a call to explore options as a dealer, artisan, gallery or as a private collector. From the looks of the platform, they specialize in being the most experienced and trusted secondary art market on the web and from all of my research it does appear to be very legit. From my initial glance it appears that on Art Brokerage you create an account and list your artworks, if they sell, they take a percentage after shipping and commissions and you keep the rest. While I am sure there is more to it than that, this appears to be the initial impression.

While I know firsthand that no one should ever buy a piece of artwork with the intent to re sell it for profit or financial gain, it is nice that platforms exist like this in order to sell your artwork if you desire to update your space or simply want to get rid of an existing art collection. Where I think Art Brokerage could be a good starting point to sell your artwork on the secondary market is that their prices generally start at around $2,000.00 and up. That means that anyone who is potentially looking for Fine Art and they are on that website; they know that the starting point or entry prices are not exactly entry level. Thereby you will most likely find that the buyers frequenting the site for artwork acquisition will be in the market for your style, type and range of artworks that you are looking to sell.

I found many solid reviews from people of the Better Business Bureau as well as Trust Pilot, enough that the good certainly outweighs the bad from most all positions. Now there was one review that wasn’t very shiny in that it stated that the entire firm was a scam where the artwork was sold, and no payment was received. While I cannot confirm it one way or another and certainly this doesn’t represent any statement from the company, it is never good to have any poor reviews, however over time I am sure to some degree you can expect one to come along at some point. For the most part it does appear that all transactions are prompt, and everyone goes away happy with artwork sold and payments received, so that is good news!

I believe that when you make the decision to purchase new artworks, you should always make your decision based upon really loving the artwork. A sure way no to have to deal with any sort of secondary market artwork sales is to make sure that you love your artworks to begin with! While time does weigh in on some of these decisions, I am sure in that styles change, fads come and go and sometimes too, so does the artwork, which leads me to the next thought on the subject.

With Nature Inspired Fine Art Landscape Photography available for sale these days, I believe that the rotation of what’s HOT or NOT will start to change. Simply because Nature doesn’t go in or out. Nature simply is. Nature has a way of always connecting and always resonating within us. A waterfall, a wave, mountains, wildflowers or and other compositional subject matter found in my collection exists in nature as a moment in time and not simply my idea of what it looked like from the strokes of my brush. For this reason, it is one of the more compelling reasons why I believe Nature Photography Fine Art will truly never go out of style.
